Ha Noi → Mai Chau → Pu Luong → Ninh Binh → Ha Long Bay
This short adventure of Northern Vietnam tours takes you through beautiful rural villages, meeting amazing people, seeing picturesque scenery, local markets, caves & waterfalls. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to experience some truly authentic accommodation of local houses or enjoy the comfort of eco-lodge or secret retreat with awesome views.
Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi
Activities:
Upon arrival, you will be met by your guide who will escort you to downtown with a brief introduction en route. Your driver will be holding a signboard with VIET HERITAGE TRAVEL LOGO & your name. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the tree-lined boulevards, French Indochinese architecture and the unique tranquil lakes etc
Hanoi is Vietnam’s capital city and home to seven million people. Traditional and refined with French colonial architecture, tree-lined boulevards, scenic lakes and a bustling Old Quarter, Hanoi has a sophisticated charm. Observe locals practicing Tai Chi by the lake, with barbers and food vendors plying their sidewalk trade.

Day 2: Hanoi sightseeing
Activities:
The capital of Vietnam, a city that celebrated 1.000 years in 2010 has countless fascinating cultural and historic sites and our days’ tour will visit the highlights. See the grand and solemn mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh (viewed from outside; closed Mon and Fri and from Oct-Nov), the ‘icon of Hanoi’ – The One Pillar Pagoda, the beautiful Temple of Literature, West Lake’s Tran Quoc temple and Quan Thanh pagoda as well as the bustling Old Quarter and at the end of the day – a water puppet performance. Evening free at leisure.

Day 3: Hanoi – Mai Chau valley
Activities:
Around 9am, our private car & guide will pick you up at your hotel for a nice transfer with majestic mountain view to Mai Chau – the peaceful & beautiful valley which has been the home of local ethnic groups of Thai, Muong, Hmong, Tay, Viet for a long time. Nice place to escape from your stressful & noisy city to explore beautiful natures, peaceful villages, the local lifestyles & their interesting cultures.
We arrive Mai Chau after around 3,5 hour drive. Enjoy lunch at a local place & check in your homestay.
In the afternoon, we have a leisure walking or biking along the valley, passing by different villages of Thai ethnics, experiencing their farming activities, their house styles or interacting with them for interesting insight of their interesting cultures. Mai Ha village is a good one to visit; however, it’s flexible for you to discuss with the guide to customize a perfect route matching your capacity.
Later, have dinner & stay overnight in a homestay with local host in Mai Hich village.

Day 4: Mai Chau valley continue exploring
Activities:
Early wake-up to enjoy peaceful life of a rural village with the rouster’s songs, fresh air & nice view of surrounding mountains.
After breakfast, we start for a 2,5 hour trek along the valley, passing by different villages in Sam Khoe commune for more exploration of local life. Have a lunch with a local family in Buoc village before heading to your beautiful lodge to check in.
Poom Coong or Lac Village are suggested to visit in the afternoon as it’s rather close to your place. Enjoy the second night in Mai Chau.

Day 5: Mai Chau – Pu Luong trekking
Activities:
You may want to enjoy the beautiful lodge a little more. At around 9am, transfer to Pu Luong nature reserve in Ba Thuoc commune, Thanh Hoa province. It takes around 2 hours to drive.
Leave luggage at Pu Luong Retreat if room is not available yet. Then, we do a light trek down to the valley of Pu Luong nature reserve visiting Don village with a nice captivation of rice cultivation & local farming activities; then trek to the top mountain slope for panoramic views of far doted villages in the region. In the afternoon, return to your accommodation for checking in & relax.

Day 6: Pu Luong trekking – drive to Ninh Binh
Activities:
After having breakfast, you can discuss with your guide to choose from a number of magnificent trekking routes, passing through outstanding rice terrace fields, stunning hills and valleys and fascinating hamlets giving a glimpse of daily life. There are available different trekking loops from easy stroll at nearby villages to more challenging hikes to further ones.
At the right time, heading to Ninh Binh, check in your hotel & enjoy leisure time

Tam Cốc Ninh Bình
Day 7: Ninh Binh exploring
Activities:
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken out to visit Ninh Binh highlights. The itineray is open to visit Hoa Lu – the Ancient Royal capital of Viet Nam. We will visit Dinh king temple and Le king temple in the 10th century, finding out the heroic histories of this two Kings in Chinese Wars. Some other attractions might be of interests are Bai Dinh Pagoda, boat trip on either Tam Coc, Trang An or Van Long. You can discuss with your guide to select the best possible options.

Day 8: Ninh Binh – Halong Bay
Activities:
We’ll pick you up at hotel lobby around 9am and drive through the verdant Red River Delta to make our way to the famous UNESCO World Heritage site, Halong Bay. You’ll board a luxury junk ship for an overnight cruise– while you relax on-board you can marvel at the incredible limestone karsts that jut out of the sea and the thousands of jungle-covered islands that seem to float on the waves. The turquoise waters of the Gulf of Tonkin swirl around hidden grottoes and ancient caves to create an enchanting, timeless world.
We’ll serve you a fresh seafood lunch while you sit back and relax as you enjoy the incredible view with a drink in your hand. We’ll take you to a traditional fishing village where the locals have created an entire town on the decks of their boats, then you can explore Tien Ong Cave before returning to the cruise for cocktails, canapés, and a spectacular sunset. End your day with a romantic, candlelit dinner.

Day 9: Halong Bay – return to Hanoi airport
Activities:
Begin the day with a Tai Chi class on deck in the early morning mist or just admire the beautiful scenery as the sun rises over the azure waters. Choose between an excursion to a secluded island with a sandy beach for a swim or join the chef for a cooking demonstration to learn more about Vietnamese cuisine. Enjoy a leisurely brunch while your junk cruises Halong Bay, passing islets and caves as you make your way back to the dock.
Your driver will meet you when you disembark and transfer you to Noi Bai airport for your flight to home in the evening. (Alternatively, we can take you back to Hanoi if your flight is early next day → adding on 01 extra night at Hanoi hotel).
