Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City Arrival

Activities:

When you arrive at the Tan Son Nhat International airport you’ll be met at the baggage claim by our friendly guide. Just look for the sign with our Viet Heritage Travel logo and your name. We’ll get you to your hotel and see that you’re comfortable, plus we’ll give you an introduction to the city at the same time. Then the rest of the day is yours to settle in, relax, and explore the area.

Ho Chi Minh is a city that never sleeps and offers a plethora of great restaurants and bars catering to all tastes, from street food vendors to the rooftop bar at the Rex Hotel, where international correspondents covered the Vietnam War and where the U.S. military attaché’s press briefing was held daily and dubbed the “Five O’clock Follies”. Whatever your interests, be sure to ask your guide for personal recommendations.

Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City Tours – Cu Chi Tunnels

Activities:

We’ll pick you up in the morning and take you to the Cu Chi Tunnels, a major part of the Vietnam-American War and a fascinating day trip- explore the mysterious tunnels, find hidden doors and once-deadly traps. After lunch we’ll go back to Ho Chi Minh and spend the afternoon either visiting the War Remnants Museum or the Presidential Palace, whichever you prefer. Then stroll around the city’s colonial streets in the evening to the Old Saigon Post Office, Dong Khoi Street, Continental Hotel, Opera House and City Hall.

Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong Delta – Can Tho

Activities:

From Ho Chi Minh we’ll take a short drive through lush green rice fields into the Mekong Delta and the town of My Tho. We’ll stop to visit the Vinh Trang Pagoda and take a hand-rowed sampan boat down the mighty Mekong, drifting under the shade of coconut trees through the river’s natural canals. You’ll get to see wooden stilt houses, aromatic fruit plantations and traditional fishing villages built along the banks. At Tortoise Islet we’ll stop to have lunch in an orchard garden, then continue down the river to An Khang. If you’d like, we can take a short bicycle tour (you can apply for a private tour if time permits) and enjoy seasonal fruit, honey, and tea to the beautiful sounds of southern Vietnamese folk music performed by local musicians. In one of the small river villages you can taste delicious, hand-made coconut candies while you experience the idyllic rural lifestyle. In the evening we’ll head to Can Tho and make sure you’re comfortable in your hotel, then you can have some time to visit the bustling Can Tho Market.

Day 4: Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating market – Ho chi Minh City

Activities:

Enjoy the fresh air and country life along the banks of the Mekong again in the morning. Take breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a casual cruise down the Mekong itself all the way to Cai Rang Floating market. Cai Rang is the largest floating market anywhere in the region and you’ll find absolutely everything that Vietnam has to offer here. We’ve found that many people wish they’d taken a bigger bag once they’re done shopping! One you’ve found your way out of the hustle and bustle of the market your guide will arrange for you to return to Saigon. Here you’ll return to your hotel and enjoy a final night in Vietnam’s most exciting Southern city.

Day 5: Ho Chi Minh City Departure
